A major complaint regarding RF towers, and in particular cell towers, is regarding their appearance which in some cases can have a significant negative effect on the overall feel of a location. Some areas that feel the largest impact are the oldest areas of cities, national parks and seaside vistas. Sometimes it is impossible to completely disguise RF equipment but some attempts to make them blend into the environment include painting antenna radomes that are installed on historical buildings to match the brickwork, turning towers located in a CBD into trendy modern art and using towers that have the appearance of trees/palms.
For a tower to blend into a particular environment it must be built so that it does not draw unnecessary attention to the fact that it is being used for RF equipment. As such it is rare to have large production runs and concealment towers are usually fabricated on an individual basis to the required heights and appearance.
