AirMAX Sector is a Carrier Class 2x2 Dual Polarity MIMO Base Station Antenna that was designed to seamlessly integrate with Rocket M5 radios
Pair a Rocket M5 radio with an airMAX Sector reach to create a high powered PtMP base station, covering a 90 degree sector. 90 degree sectors are ideal for when deploying a conventional 3x sector airMAX node. Dividing your base station into 3 sectors can theoretically produce up to a 300% increase in capacity due to frequency-reuse
Higher capacity can be achieved by further subdivision into 4-6 sectors using even higher gain antennas. When sectoring in this fashion it's important that each node is integrated with a Rocket M5 GPS in order to take advantage of airMAX's proprietary AirSync protocol
AirSync replaces the radio's conventional carrier-sense timing protocol with a inter-radio synchronised TDMA protocol
Instead of each radio polling for a quiet channel before transmitting (and potentially colliding), AirSync detects the GPS coordinates of each unit and synchronises transmissions into separate time slots
In addition to GPS synchronisation, multi-sector deployments will require additional antenna shielding (RF-deadening material is strongly advised.
